To change the font color of your page:

body {color:#009900 !important;}

To change the background color of your page:

body {background-color:#FFFF00 !important;}

To change the background color of the outer wrapper:

#wrapper {background-color:#FFFF00;}

To change the background color of the left section:

#large_left {background-color:#FFFF00;}

To change the background color of the right section:

#large_right {background-color:#FFFF00;}

If you have videos, you will also have a small right and left section.

To change those, use either or both of the following codes respectively:

#small_right {background-color:#FFFF00;}
#small_left {background-color:#FFFF00;}

To change the background color of your comments:

#comments.boxed {background-color:#FFFF00}

To change the font color of your comments:

#comments.boxed {color:#009900}

Are you starting to see a pattern here? Once you know what a section is called, you may modify the properties of that section using the following syntax:

nameOfSection {propertyToChange:valueOfChangedProperty;}

Below you will find a diagram of the basic named sections

width:200px;

This in no way constitutes the entire list of ways that you can tweak your profile page. I encourage you to look for the patterns when doing your tweaks, so that you can learn and understand what you are doing. This will take you much farther than just copying and pasting.

Go to the Template Zone, and copy and paste one of the layouts your find
there into notepad and look through it, now that you've read this tutorial. I betcha that it will make SOME sense to you now.
